1943 Fordson WOT2 Radar Truck
This was mostly restored, but I had to rebuild the radiator and parts of the engine. My research showed it was actually a very rare vehicle, being used by the RAF in 1943 as a mobile Aircraft warning radar truck, known as a ‘Light Warning Truck’ these vehicles were operated ahead of our lines in Normandy to listen for enemy aircraft. Further research found that the original radar equipment was in store at the Science Museum where I was able to photograph it.
This truck was painted in the typical RAF 1943 colours.

1942 Ford GPW
Completely restored from scratch after finding it in a yard in Bolton.
It has an original rebuilt Ford engine.
It was first restored in 2005 and has been to the War And Peace show every year since.
It was first restored as an American 2nd rangers jeep, but with my interest in WW2 British vehicles she is now representing a jeep used by the Royal Engineers for Bomb Disposal use towards the end of the war.

1940 Morris Commercial CS8 GS
This is a very rare truck, being built in early 1940 and surviving Dunkirk. This is a complete restoration project which I am looking forward to starting later this year (2012). He have everything to complete it. I bought this Project in 2008 and is currently in store.

1942 Humber FWD 4X4
I purchased this nice little Humber 8cwt last year (2011) from Northern Ireland, and drove it all the way back from Liverpool docks in poring rain down the M6. She never missed a beat and brought us safely to our drive 8 hours later.
Although she looks ok, there is a lot wrong cosmetically with this truck, it has the wrong rear body and some of the other panels need replacing. The Chassis and running gear is sound and very good.
I am currently stripping the rear body and making the correct PU type. A complete new canvass is also being made.
She is a real pleasure to drive and when fully restored will be painted to represent an RAF Wireless Truck.

1940 Norton 16h
This Norton I also brought back from Ireland along with the Humber and a 1941 BSA M20, I have sold the M20 but kept the Norton. Both bikes were unrestored, but going. Over the winter of 2011/12 I completely striped the Norton and rebuilt her to the condition she is in now.

Previous vehicles

Spitfire Vb
And here is my ‘pre military vehicles’ hobby ………..Full restoration of Mk5 Spitfire BL370, after 12 years restoring this iconic fighter to ground running condition, my colleague, Steve Arnold and I decided to sell her in 1997, she was bought by an American, because her wartime service was with no 64 Squadron and on 6th June 1944 she was used for fighter cover over the American Beach of Omaha. In later service she crashed into mud flats on the Humber Estuary in September 1944, where most of her lay in a remote location until her recovery in the mid 1980’s.
This Picture was taken just before entering her new home at the National D Day Museum in New Orleans USA. She now hang from the roof.

1944 Morris Commercial C8 GS
I restored this truck in 2006 again from ground up including the engine. Completed in Desert colours.
I swapped this Morris for the Fordson WOT2 in 2009.

1941 Whites M3 Halftrack
This was the first vehicle I acquired already restored, I purchased it from fellow member Tobin Jones in 2007, I resprayed it to olive drab and added the 50cal and two 30cal guns.
It was a fantastic vehicle to own and drive, never let me down and started on the button every time.
He sadly let her go last year, 2011 as I was not using her enough.

Morris Commercial C8 GS
This was one of 3 that I bought in 2006, and was the second one I restored for fellow member Tobin Jones. A complete ground up restoration over 5 years, being completed early in 2011.
